OPEN CALL for the 9th Amorgos Tourism Film Festival
The 9th Amorgos Tourism Film Festival of Tourism & Culture will be held from October 31st to November 5th on the Island of Amorgos, situated in the Cyclades region of Greece.
The event titled YPERIA is co-organized by the Municipality of Amorgos at the region of South Aegean and the local Women Cultural Association under the auspices of the National Tourism Organization and the Ministry of Aegean (www.yperia.gr).
The film festival screens about 100 films annually from more than 50 countries since 2010 and awards documentaries and travel films that contribute to the sustainable development of the domestic and foreign tourism. The main purpose of the festival is to create an international platform for enhancing tourism worldwide through audiovisual media.
The annual conference YPERIA aims to enhance the natural and cultural heritage of Amorgos and to spread awareness among the international community for the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.
This year the theme of the conference is “Gastronomy – Culture & Tourism”, as the region of South Aegean is selected as the European Gastronomy district for 2019, for its commitment to the Mediterranean diet and cultural diversity.
Gastronomy tourism contributes to the conservation of biodiversity and landscapes, continuity of the population of rural areas, maintains the usage, customs and functions that allow the preservation of the tangible and intangible heritage.
