“Yamagata City has music that they are proud to share with the world”
Over decades, music has spread its echo across Yamagata City’s rich natural environment. MURAKAWA Chiaki is the founder and honorary conductor of the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra. With him at the center, the film presents the history of music in Yamagata City through the activities of professional and amateur orchestras, and the citizens who devote themselves passionately to music and its potential. A documentary that explores the significance of having music and orchestras in the city.

Director: Mr. SATO Koichi
Born in 1977 in Yamagata, Japan. In 1998, his short film “Tanago-Biyori” won the Gold Prize at the 20th Tokyo Video Festival (Sponsored by JVC). His documentary film “The World’s ‘Top’ Theater” (Narration: OHSUGI Ren / Producer: TAKAHASHI Takuya) was released nationwide in 2019. His latest films are “Maruhachi Yatarazuke Komian” (2021 / Narration: TANAKA Rena / Producer: TAKAHASHI Takuya) and “Benibana no Moribito Inochi wo Someru” (2022 / Narration: IMAI Miki / Producer: TAKAHASHI Takuya).
